Office Ready: OOTD
Fashion in NYC is weird. On one hand, fashion is at the forefront of this energetic city, and many of us working or going to school here dress to impress. On the other hand, many of us can't really be bothered to dress well due to the crappy weather, obscene hangovers (I do not condone, just saying), or just sheer lack of time in the mornings. I find that most of the time, if you're not in law, banking, or a client-facing position, people usually lean on the casually-dressed side when they are at work. Don't get me wrong, I love fashion; it's a huge passion of mine. But, sometimes there are those days where all I want to do is wear something I can easily jump into but still look effortlessly put-together. Cue in the razzling, dazzling, superb, best-invention-since-the-internet - the jumpsuit.
A sleek black jumpsuit is a classic staple to any wardrobe. I'm a huge fan of versatility in my clothing and accessories. Versatility is probably one of the most important things in my personal aesthetic; I love the idea of having a lot of simple, elegant basics in my wardrobe, because that way you're able to layer, mix, and match without getting bored too quickly. Normally, I like to stay away from all-black outfits but lately I've been in the mood to wear a bit more black. I can't help it - it's honestly just so easy to wear when you're too busy to think about your outfit of the day every single morning. Also, it doesn't help the fact that it still feels like the dead of winter in NYC.
The great thing about jumpsuits is that you can wear them literally all year round. The idea is that the jumpsuit acts as a foundation to your outfit. For example, if it's winter time, you can wear a black jumpsuit and a smart blazer or oversized cardigan over it, complete with heels or booties. If it's spring or summer - wearing the jumpsuit on it's own, outfitted with some badass accessories like a cute crossbody and sandals, is just so easy you don't even have to think about it. The jumpsuit speaks for itself. It's literally like an all-in-one outfit, kinda like a dress but even more elegant and girl boss-worthy.
